Some points. The Navigon,
- Was equally as chatty as the Tom Tom.
- Had a bulky and flimsy windscreen mount
- Was faster at rerouting then the Tom Tom.
- Has a very detailed and good resolution screen (read: easy to decipher) as the Tom Tom.
- Alerted to all the speed and red light cameras.
- Is smaller and more compact compared to Tom Tom
- Has a clear and very loud speaker.
- Did on occasions (in a city area) have some weird routing.
- TTS on the Navigon was good and clear with pronouncing street names.
- Clear speech, good pronunciation, choice of routes, quick recalc
Most impressed with this unit. Best TTS pronunciation of all I've tried. Route finding works well, even with atrocious Australian map data which is the downfall of all SatNavs in this country. On-screen movement is smooth, 3D view is excellent, recalculation of your route should you decide to go a different way is very fast.

It was cheaper for its features
Overall I love this little thing, I haven't needed to use a paper directory once, and I've had it for over a month now. It does occasionally take a while to figure out the current position, and once it thought we were on a different street (but only once!), though it quickly re-calculated the route with no problems when it figured out exactly where we were.
The voice is loud enough to be heard through a helmet from the backpack at full volume, so recommended for people who like listening to music and don't want to be distracted by the screen, who still don't want to get lost.
Overall, this little one has a tonne of cool, normal features that make life easier, like automatically changing the brightness of the screen between night and day settings, a bicycle setting that takes you off the main roads and onto bike paths, etc, while taking you where you want to go =) Highly recommended!
